Speaker 2:

Hey, this is Jordan Yarbrough and I'm hosting today's episode of Bread of Life Daily. Today, I have Umberto with me. I'm really excited to hear what's on his heart and what God has done in his life. Umberto, why don't you introduce yourself and talk to us a little bit?

Speaker 3:

Sure, my name is Umberto. I came to the church you know what's funny almost eight years ago. It was the 19th February, 19th which is also the day that I first went out with my now wife. So the Lord's been doing a lot of things in my life, and boy am I thankful Kind of bringing everything together.

Speaker 2:

huh, yes, sir, that is awesome. So what has God done in your life? Well, the thing is is when I first got saved.

Speaker 3:

he did so much upfront that when I had difficulty moving through, I could always lean back on the things that he had done, and even in reading the Bible and the Old Testament and being like what did he do for them, what can he do for me?

Speaker 2:

Wow, that is so good. I actually heard one time this one preacher. He said in the middle of a crisis, always recount the things that the Lord has done. And you find that all throughout scripture and Psalms and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3:

So to share a testimony that was on my heart. I remember I first had gotten saved and at the time I had a medical condition that doctors had told me I was just I was stuck with. It was debilitating, I wasn't able to do anything physically exerting Like I couldn't pick up a couch without my legs hurting and then just keeling over in pain. I tried going on a few runs and just having to drag myself home due to the amount of pain that had happened, and it was the Lord taking away a lot of things that I had really leaned onto. I mean, before that I was fairly athletic, I ran everywhere I didn't like walking and so losing my physical ability to do things really broke me down. For the Lord to eventually build me up, wow. At a certain point I got saved and as I was reading through the word you know, I decided let's start reading the New Testament. So I had to go through all four of the gospels and thank God that it was halfway through Mark that I had read. Therefore, I say to all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you will receive them and they will be granted to you. That's Mark 11, 24. That's awesome.

Speaker 3:

I remember just reading that, sitting in my mom's kitchen and just sitting down with the simplicity of those words and thinking to myself okay, yeah, it is that easy. Everyone in the, everyone in the Bible just does a prayer and the thing happens. And so I thought to myself you know what, lord, I'm healed. Wow, and that was it. It wasn't even an ask, it was a declaration. This was. This was really early on in my faith. I remember just sitting on that and being like all right, nothing weird. You know, like I didn't feel the holy visitation of the city, right, there was just a. I believe this happened and that's that. And so the next day I laced up my shoes and I decided to go out for a run and nothing happened. It was great and nothing happened like no pain, yeah, no pain. And I remember a week later I signed up to do a 5k with a few of my buddies from the church and I have not had issues with it since.

Speaker 2:

Wow. So like from the very beginning, just the Holy Spirit just leading you to a great place of faith, but not just like what I really got out of that was not just faith, but like works with it. You know says faith without works is dead, right, but you put the faith to the test, yeah.

Speaker 3:

And that's one of the reasons I bring up this story is that in church, the thing we keep talking about from the pulpit is this idea of Jesus and the disciples did all these things and we're supposed to do the same and even more. And so what things do we read about that seem miraculous on paper, that we can do today? Right, if only we had the faith that we can do today.

Speaker 2:

Right, if only we had the faith. Wow, that is an incredible testimony, I mean just from the get-go. God just doing so much and teaching you such depth of faith from just an early age in Christ if that makes sense, that is really awesome. Is there any other application that you have to share with us based on that? The?

Speaker 3:

biggest thing is just engage in gratitude. My wife and I we keep a prayer journal and looking back on it I noticed I don't really ask much. It always starts with thank you God and then just rattling off all the things that I was thankful for in that day and in that season and the realization that he has been good, will be good and will continue to be good, and just allowing that to carry you through.

Speaker 2:

Praise God. That is awesome. Would you mind just praying over our congregation out of that Sure?

Speaker 3:

Lord, thank you for all of the miracles that you have done in our lives, chiefly salvation, and realizing that we can tap into you. And so, lord, I just pray that, as people listen to this, that they be strengthened and reminded by what you have done in their lives and what you will continue to do because you are faithful. Amen, amen.
