Speaker 1:

Welcome to Bread of Life Daily, where we take a few minutes of the day to orient ourselves toward God and connect with a brother or sister in Christ. We hope this episode helps you love God, love people and serve both.

Speaker 2:

Hello, this is Jordan Yarbrough and I'm hosting this episode of Bread of Life Daily. I'm with Sergio Ramos today and he is going to be talking about receiving God's gift, so why don't you introduce yourself to us and what you got going on today, yeah, thank you, greetings.

Speaker 3:

My name is Sergio Ramos, proud father, proud husband, a lover of God and lover of people, and I'll be talking today about the gift of salvation and how the Spirit just transforms us in receiving that and through our walk with the Lord.

Speaker 2:

Awesome, awesome. That sounds super packed. Sergio's got some scriptures to back all this up, so why don't you go ahead and roll with?

Speaker 3:

it. So I truly believe that the gospel can be summed up in just one verse out of Romans, 6.23. And it reads For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. So the way I receive this scripture is that, through my life, my position in my heart, you know receiving the gospel and hearing the truth, being exposed at a young age, believing in the truth but, however, not receiving that gift from God and not being able to truly comprehend what that gift can be. So you know the word of God talks about that even the devil believes in Jesus. But you know there's a position of our heart and that there's a supernatural transformation that the Holy Spirit draws you to, that helps you to obtain that faith that you can receive and have your heart of position where you can accept that gift of grace that the Lord offers you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, because it's really not just up to us. It's like without him even, it's like we can do nothing, and so the Holy Spirit's role in our life is so important. The Holy Spirit compels us to trust and have that faith in Jesus to receive right. Tells us to trust and have that faith in Jesus to receive right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's profound, because this scripture it discusses that a wage that you've earned. Right, you don't go to work and you don't go to work and just receive a paycheck. You have to go earn and work for that paycheck. So grace is totally different. Right, it's not anything that we can do upon our own accord, upon our own strength, upon our own will, our own might. Right, the gift of grace, the gift of grace that we receive from the Lord, right, he has to, number one, draw us to him and position us so our heart can receive that gift. That gift does not belong to us until we in fact go and open that gift. Right, it's like an analogy for a Christmas present underneath the tree, right, like that gift's been sitting there till Christmas, but then that's not my gift until I get to open that thing up.

Speaker 3:

And so, you know, hearing the gospel, there's people that are planting seeds or praying for you. You know the Lord is drawing you in ways, but you know there comes a point where, regardless of the circumstances in life, there may be something that you're truly compelled to actually say. You know what I'm done, doing it on my own strength, to actually say you know what I'm done, doing it on my own strength, on my own will, my own power. I cannot earn my way. I cannot do things to measure up to what God has for me. I just have to surrender it all and give it up to him and allow this gift that he has to receive this gift because he's been offering this gift. He's not a God that's ever changed that truth. That gift has always been there. But he's blessed me and he blesses us to receive that gift and give us a heart that we're positioned to actually receive that gift.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, praise God for that. And then, how about sanctification? What are your thoughts on that?

Speaker 3:

Right. So you know, sanctification it's a progressive thing, right. So when we put our faith in the Lord and we believe in the Lord, right, our spirit is redeemed. Right. But there's a process where our soul, it, needs to be cleaned up. Right, we need to go along a walk with the Lord and allow him to move in our hearts.

Speaker 3:

And that same spirit that drew him excuse us drew me to him right, is going to also continue to compel me to turn away from my life of sin, turn away from serving my flesh, my senses, and pursue not only just turn away, but pursue them, pursue the holiness right, pursue that righteousness, because that's not when I'm made right with God, it's not anything that I'm doing on my accord. Right, that spirit is compelling me to say, you know what, because of your love for me, lord, I'm going to do it. I love you, your sacrifice you made for me. The least I can do is make my every day a living sacrifice to you, so that spirit that we inherit at that time, as well as eternal life. Now we can abide in that spirit and that's going to continue for us to serve the purpose that God has willed in our life.

Speaker 2:

Amen. That is so good, I mean. It even reminds me how the Spirit really prays on our behalf. It's so amazing to know how much the Father really loves us, the God that we serve. Just to wrap this up, can you just pray for our congregation out of what you just taught us and shared with us? Yes, Lord.

Speaker 3:

God, your gift that you offer to all of us, lord, for those that have received that gift and those that are that you're drawing to receive that gift, oh Lord, we cannot fathom, we cannot even ask, think or imagine those eternal things, that eternal life, lord, that you provide for us. I pray for those that are blessed to hear this message today, that their heart is compelled and drawn to you to live their life and serve you, lord, and to provide every member of themselves to you, o Lord, and to just trust in you, lord, that you have given us an inheritance that we can never pay back, but you are just so loving and you're willing and wanting to open our hearts to believe not just believe, but also receive it. And we pray this in the mighty name of Jesus.
